This kit is designed for track driven vehicles and manufactured with tight fitment tolerances.
The key to this product is the brass bushings – an upgrade from the standard rubber product. Stock calipers are a floating design and traditionally rely on the rubber bushings to guide the caliper housing along the pins fixed into the caliper housing. However, this movement is not parallel due to the compromised properties of the rubber material – allowing the caliper housing to twist along this axis. By installing our brass bushings; deflection and twisting will be eliminated – improving pedal feel, braking performance and pad life.
***Note: This product fits both front and rear brake calipers. Each set will include 4, enough to do 2 calipers. If you wish to install these in 2 calipers than choose the “single axle” option. If you wish to install these into all calipers (front and rear) than please choose the “both axles” option for a discount for two kits with 8 bushings!
It is important for this product to be:
-Only installed with factory BMW sliding single piston calipers made by ATE.
-Thoroughly cleaned and lubricated before install. We recommend copper anti-seize to lubricate the guide pins.
-Installed into calipers that have been deburred, cleaned, and free of corrosion. It is vital for the installer to ensure that there no burrs or high-spots at the bushing bores of the caliper housing as this may result in sliding parts to seize.
-Fitted with the flanged (larger diameter side) of the brass bushing to be facing the inside of the caliper housing with the circlip (grooved side of the bushing) away from the brake pads on the outside of the caliper housing.
-Torque specification of the replacement slider pins is 30Nm. Loctite recommended.
-Frequently inspected, cleaned, and lubricated.
